What your free water test measures (and what it can't)

Our free water test takes about 10 minutes and happens right at your sink. A Triple Crown technician runs it while you watch, and it is available nationwide. Here is exactly what it covers, and what it does not. What the test measures - Hardness. Calcium and magnesium in your water. Hard water leaves spots on dishes, scale on fixtures, and buildup inside water heaters. - TDS (total dissolved solids). A count of everything dissolved in your water. High TDS can affect taste. - Chlorine. Cities add it to kill germs. It works, but it can leave a smell or taste, and it can dry out skin and hair. - pH. How acidic or basic your water is. Water far from neutral can wear on pipes and fixtures over time. - Iron. Iron can stain sinks, tubs, and laundry, and it can give water a metallic taste. What the test cannot detect Our in-home test does not detect PFAS, lead, or bacteria. No 10-minute test can measure those reliably. They require a certified lab test. If you are concerned about any of them, tell your technician or contact us. We will point you to a certified lab test so you get a real answer instead of a guess. What happens after the test Your technician walks you through the numbers on the spot. If your water looks fine, we tell you that and leave it there. If a softener or filter would help, we explain why, based on your results. You decide from there. How to book a free test - Call 1-888-801-6789 - Text (801) 634-0177 - Email help@gottriple.com - Live chat at gottriple.com The test is free, and there is no obligation to buy anything.

Reading your water test — hardness, iron, TDS, chlorine in plain English

Your technician walks you through your results on the spot, but reports have a way of raising questions two days later. Here is what each number on your water test means for your skin, your appliances, and the way your water tastes. Hardness Calcium and magnesium dissolved in your water. The higher the number, the more of this you see: spots on dishes, scale crusting on fixtures and building up inside your water heater, soap that will not lather, and skin and hair that feel dry no matter what products you buy. Hardness is a comfort-and-appliances number, not a safety number. Iron Even a little iron makes itself known: orange or brown stains in sinks, tubs, and laundry, and sometimes a metallic taste. Iron is about staining first and taste second. TDS (total dissolved solids) A single count of everything dissolved in your water. TDS is a taste-and-quality signal, not a danger meter. A high number tells us to look closer; it does not by itself mean the water is unsafe. Chlorine Cities add chlorine to kill germs, and it works. The trade is the swimming-pool smell and taste, plus dry skin and hair for some people. Chlorine on your report means the disinfectant is still present at your tap. Your report may also show pH, which is how acidic or basic your water is. Water far from neutral wears on pipes and fixtures over time. What the numbers do not do No single number prescribes a fix on its own, and none of these results means "buy something today." Your report maps the fix: your technician reads the numbers together and explains which ones matter for your house and which do not. And remember what the free in-home test cannot see: PFAS, lead, and bacteria require a certified lab test. Questions about your report Text a photo of your report to (801) 634-0177 and we will walk you through it. Or call 1-888-801-6789, email help@gottriple.com, or chat at gottriple.com.

How a water softener install day goes

Here is what to expect when Triple Crown installs your water softener, from prep to the final walkthrough. Before we arrive Clear a small working area around your main water line. It is usually in the garage, basement, or a utility closet. The softener also needs a nearby drain and a standard power outlet. Not sure your space works? Text a photo to (801) 634-0177 and we will check it before install day. During the install Most installs are finished in a single visit. Your installer will: 1. Walk through the plan with you before starting. 2. Shut off your water. This is the only downtime, and it is usually brief. 3. Connect the softener to your main line so treated water reaches the whole house. 4. Run the drain line and plug in the unit. 5. Turn the water back on and check every connection for leaks. 6. Add salt and program the system for your household size and water hardness. Before we leave The installer shows you how everything works: where the salt goes, what the display means, and what normal operation sounds like. Ask anything. You should not be left with open questions when we walk out. The first few days You may notice air in your pipes at first. Run your taps for a minute and it clears. The system regenerates on its own, usually overnight. Hearing water run during that cycle is normal. Questions after install day Call 1-888-801-6789, text (801) 634-0177, email help@gottriple.com, or use live chat at gottriple.com.

Salt, filters, and keeping your system healthy

A water softener is low-maintenance, not no-maintenance. A few small habits keep it working well for years. Check your salt once a month Open the brine tank lid and look. Keep the tank at least one-third full of salt, and do not pack it to the very top. Use the salt type your owner's manual recommends. Most systems do best with pellet salt. Watch for salt bridges Sometimes salt hardens into a crust with a hollow space underneath. The tank looks full, but the system is not using any salt. The sign: your water starts feeling hard again while the salt level has not moved in weeks. Break the crust up gently with a broom handle and the system will get back to work. Change filters on schedule If your setup includes filters, replace them on the schedule in your manual. A clogged filter cuts water pressure and stops doing its job. Set a phone reminder so it does not slip. Signs something is off - Water spots and scale are coming back - Skin and hair feel dry again - The salt level never drops - The system runs constantly, or never runs at all Any of these means the system needs attention. Do not wait for it to get worse. When to contact us If you are not sure which salt to buy, how to break a salt bridge, or whether your system is working right, reach out. Call 1-888-801-6789, text (801) 634-0177, email help@gottriple.com, or chat at gottriple.com. Text works well for this: send a photo of your tank and we can usually tell you what is going on.
